Nitrogen doping configurations have many different forms, including pyridine nitrogen, imine nitrogen, pyrrole nitrogen, amino nitrogen, nitrile nitrogen, graphite nitrogen and nitrogen oxide.

The experimental results show that under alkaline conditions, the half wave potential of the material is 0.87 V, and the dynamic current density is 38 mA per cubic centimeter. This data is superior to the commercial platinum carbon catalyst, and it shows better stability and methanol tolerance. Under acidic conditions, the activity of this material is slightly lower than that of commercial platinum carbon catalyst, but still superior to other non-metallic catalysts.
